Marie was trained at the Swift Current Public Library on using Microsoft Word. We learned how to use different font types and sizes. We learned how to save a document, and how to open them after. I showed her how to save pictures from her email onto her computer.

Helen was trained at the Swift Current Public Library on searching the internet. I showed her how to use quotation marks to help narrow her searches. I showed her how to use the images search, maps search and news search on google.ca. I showed her the website amazon.com and .ca, because she was interested in ordering books from the internet.

Alice and Jackie were trained at the Swift Current Public Library on using and understanding their digital cameras better. I showed them how to use the marco setting, timer setting, and the different flash settings. I showed them how to use the movie button on their cameras to take a short video. I showed them how to zoom in on their pictures in review mode, and how to see their pictures as thumbnails in review mode. We talked about the different between digital zoom and optical zoom.

Gary was trained at the Swift Current Public Library on updating his GPS on the computer. We went to the companies website to download the update. We had to create an account on the website and register the GPS system. Once we were on the site we were able to find the GPS update and start downloading.

Lorraine and friend were trained at the Swift Current Public Library on taking pictures off of their digital cameras. We learned how to copy pictures from the digital cameras and them paste them into new folders made in the My Pictures section on the computer. I showed them how to select more than one pictures using the shift and ctrl buttons on the keyboard. I showed them what the right click button is for on the mouse.

Lois was trained at the Swift Current Public Library on searching the internet using google.ca. We also worked on understanding what some of the buttons do on her facebook account. I showed her how to delete text using the delete button on the computer and using the backspace button.

Lorraine was trained at the Swift Current Public Library on using and understanding her digital camera better. We learned how to take videos, use the marco setting, use the portrait setting, and how to use the night shot setting.

Sandy was trained at the Swift Current Public Library on how to use her digital camera. We showed her how to push the shutter button down halfway to focus, and the rest of the way to take the picture. We learned how to use different settings and features including flash, zoom, macro, and self-timer. We taught her how to take a video, and how to mute or unmute her camera. We showed her how to use the review mode to see her pictures and videos, as well as how to delete them.

Corinne was trained at the Swift Current Public Library on how to understand her digital camera better. I showed her how to find the different scene modes on her camera. The scene modes help to take pictures of snow, landscapes, people and flowers better. I showed her how to change the view of the pictures in the review mode so that she could see more than one pictures at one time. I showed her how to change her camera to the macro setting so that she would be able to take pictures of things close up. I showed her how to change the flash on the camera so that she could turn it on and off on her own.

Sheila was trained at the Swift Current Public Library on adding websites into Favorites so that she would be able to find them later faster. We talked about online banking and whether or not it is safe and easy to do, she decided that online banking is something that she is going to look into trying to do. I showed her how to copy text from the internet and paste it into an email so that she could send it to her friends.

Bob was trained at the Swift Current Public Library on the different features of digital cameras. He is going to buy a camera soon, and wanted to be well informed in order to decide which camera to buy. We talked about megapixels, optical vs. digital zoom, shutter speed, battery types, viewfinders, screen size, in camera editing, memory cards, and camera cases. We discussed the different scene options available. We told him about pressing down the shutter button halfway to focus the picture, and the whole way to take the picture.

Addie was trained at the Swift Current Public Library on digital cameras. I showed her how to focus her camera by pushing the shutter button half way down. We learned how to use the macro feature, self timer feature, and the flash. I showed her how to use the smile detector on her camera. You select the smile on the wheel on top of the camera and push the shutter button half way down. You wait for the person to smile and then the camera takes the picture on its own when it notices that the person in the picture is smiling.

I showed her how to change the flash on and off. I showed her how to set the timer. I showed her how to change her camera to macro. I showed her how to focus her pictures by pushing down the shutter button half way.

We learned how to add a voice message to pictures that he has taken to remind himself what the pictures were of. We learned how to use the macro feature, the flash feature, and the self timer feature. I showed him how to focus his camera, by pushing down the shutter button only halfway to focus it, and then the rest of the way to take the picture. We learned how to use the scene button to change the camera to different settings. I showed him how to use the panorama feature on his camera to stitch three pictures together to make one long picture.

We also worked on searching the internet using google.ca. We learned how to highlight and how to use highlighting for copying and pasting. We learned about attachments, what they are and how to open them.

We learned how to change the test wrapping on pictures. We learned how to use the Word Art to add to a page.

While using Microsoft Word, we also learned how to change font size and change the margin. She also learned how to use ctrl+alt+delete to close out of a program.

Digital Camera Class - Jan. 10, 2009

Three people attended the Digital Camera Class at the Swift Current Public Library. They were all familiar with how to use the auto setting to take a picture on their camera. So we learned about the different settings on the camera, including how and when to use them. We were able to discuss problems and questions the students had about their cameras, and discover ways to take better pictures. We learned about using the macro feature, flash settings, and single/monitor auto focus. We learned how to take and edit a video, and about using various scene modes such as portrait, twilight, night portrait, landscape, snow, etc. We also showed them how to put their pictures onto the computer.

MGL was trained at the Swift Current Public Library on using Microsoft word. We scanned a picture into the computer so that we could use it in the project that we were working on. We worked on edit the picture in Microsoft Photo Editor. We added the picture into the word document. We also worked on using text boxes and changing their size and location.

We searched for an image on the internet, and practiced how to save it onto the computer and upload it onto the blog.
